Gender: Societal Views on Women

Society's views on women have been very harsh for the longest period of time and unfortunately the stereotypical expectations to women applies up to this day. Women now are still expected to be stay at home moms and take care of their children, do homework with them and raise them. They are also expected to be good house wives and do everything to satisfy their husbands, constantly clean and cook for the family to be well fed and happy. From the very beginning of their lives girls are taught to be loving, caring, tender, nice, sweet, etc. Of course, they are bought little dolls to play with and toy kitchen sets, by doing so the parents are already teaching the young girls this stereotype and showing them that this is right and that this is something they absolutely have to be doing. They're taught that there's no other way, a girl shouldn't want to play with cars or be interested in sports, they should wear cute pink dresses and always look presentable when out in public. Many girls are not this way and do not want to be all girly and that is okay and should be acceptable in society instead of it being discriminated and seen as wrong. Nowadays, society is more "lenient" and girls can do whatever they please with less judgement, which is still horrible since the judgement isn't completely gone, just reduced. Society needs to grow and become into a more acceptable manner for this world to truly be a better place to live in.
